Floriculture and the Art of Dried Botanicals
A 7-month introduction to preserving plant materials
Applications for the 2024 Floriculture course are now closed and all accepted applicants have been notified.
Want to learn about harvesting and preserving flowers, leaves, and other plant materials?
Members of this free monthly class will work directly with the Garden’s horticulture staff to learn plant identification and get hands-on experience with successful harvesting and preservation techniques. Once enough materials have been gathered and dried, the class will learn to assemble decorative botanical wreaths that will be sold at the Garden’s annual Handmade Holidays event, getting creative incorporating colors, textures, shapes, and fragrances in designs. Each participant will take home a wreath of their own!
No previous experience is needed! Tools and equipment will be provided. Please note that we will be working outdoors, so wear comfortable walking shoes and weather-appropriate clothing that can get dirty.
