David Orr writes the column “On Poetry” for the New York Times Book Review.  He is the author of You, Too, Could Write a Poem? (Penguin Books, 2017), The Road Not Taken: Finding America in the Poem Everyone Loves and Almost Everyone Gets Wrong (Penguin Books, 2016), and Beautiful & Pointless: A Guide to Modern Poetry (HarperCollins, 2011). The recipient of the Nona Balakian Citation for Excellence in Reviewing from the National Book Critics Circle and the Editors Prize for Book Reviewing from Poetry magazine, Orr is Professor of the Practice at Cornell University.
